WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Saint Anthony Hospital announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or around February 6, 2025, Saint Anthony Hospital learned that an unauthorized party may have obtained access to a limited number of Saint Anthony Hospital employee email accounts.1 As a result, Saint Anthony Hospital launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Saint Anthony Hospital confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems belonging to patients and employees may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach.1 As a result, Saint Anthony Hospital began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Telephone number
  • Medical information (e.g., date(s) of service, medical record number, patient account number, prescription number, medical history, condition, treatment, diagnosis)

 

As a result of the data breach, on June 3, 2025, Saint Anthony Hospital posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, Saint Anthony Hospital plans to send breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
