WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Bridges EXP reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, Bridges EXP learned that an unauthorized party gained access to a limited number of employee email accounts from on or about December 2, 2024, to on or about January 22, 2025.1As a result, Bridges EXP launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Bridges EXP confirmed that sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party.1 As a result, Bridges EXP began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:3
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Financial information (financial account number, routing number, payment card number, access PIN number, payment card expiration dates)
- Medical information and individual health insurance information
- Passport number
- Taxpayer identification number
Recently, Bridges EXP began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
