WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Curium Pharma reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on October 17, 2024, Curium Pharma became aware of potential access to data within its network. 1 As a result, Curium Pharma launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Curium Pharma confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access some data in their systems between October 15, 2024, and October 19, 2024, without permission, some of which may have contained personal information. 1 As a result, Curium Pharma began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected, and on April 15, 2025, they determined that a file contained your name and personal information. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Curium Pharma. However, according to Maine state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state identification card number
  • Account number, credit card number or debit card number, if circumstances exist wherein such a number could be used without additional identifying information, access codes or passwords
  • Account passwords or personal identification numbers or other access codes

On June 20, 2025, Curium Pharma began mailing affected individuals. According to the breach notice sent to residents of Maine, Curium Pharma is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the breach notification letters that Curium Pharma filed with the Attorney General of Maine is below.
