Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating ANSI National Accreditation Board, LLC (“ANAB”) regarding its recent data breach. The ANAB data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ANAB is a non-profit organization aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of goods and services through its accreditation and training programs.3 As a national accreditation board, ANAB provides its services to the certification body, validation and verification body, inspection, and laboratory related communities.2 Headquartered in Washington, D.C., ANAB has an additional location in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and employs approximately 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 18, 2025, ANAB reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, ANAB recently discovered an incident involving unauthorized access to a limited number of email accounts.1 As a result, ANAB launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, ANAB confirmed that certain files on its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between January 27, 2025, and February 25, 2025. In response, ANAB began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected.1 On May 6, 2025, ANAB identified that personal information related to certain individuals was present in the affected files. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On or about June 18, 2025, ANAB began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, ANAB is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
