Professional Testing Corporation Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Professional Testing Corporation (“PTC”) regarding its recent data breach. The PTC data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT PROFESSIONAL TESTING CORPORATION:

PTC is a testing and assessment services company based in New York. Founded in 1983, PTC offers a range of credentialing services for testing programs, certification organizations, and licensing boards.2 Today, PTC’s areas of expertise include psychometric services, job task analyses, exam development, standard setting studies, exam scoring, application development and processing, recertification services, and online testing.2 Headquartered in New York, New York, PTC employs over 20 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, PTC reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. In the sample breach notice, PTC does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number

 

As a result of the data breach, on June 5, 2025, PTC began providing notice to impacted individuals. Based on the notice sent to Massachusetts residents, PTC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
