ConnectWise Cybersecurity Incident Investigation

Founded in 1982, ConnectWise was born out of a single software solution designed to help MSPs gain control of their help desk and billing.2 Today, ConnectWise has grown into a platform of software built for technology solutions providers (TSPs) to run their entire as-a-service business.2 ConnectWise’s platform includes products aiding in business management, remote monitoring and management, remote control and access, quote and proposal automation, cybersecurity risk assessments, and integrations with hundreds of vendors.2 Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, ConnectWise employs over 1,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On May 28, 2025, ConnectWise announced that it had experienced a cybersecurity incident. According to the breach notice posted on its website, ConnectWise recently learned of suspicious activity within its environment that it believes was tied to a sophisticated nation state actor, which affected a very small number of ScreenConnect customers.1 As of June 2, 2025, ConnectWise’s investigation into the incident is ongoing. Additionally, ConnectWise has not publicly disclosed the complete nature of the incident, nor the type of customer information potentially impacted. However, according to the website breach notice, ConnectWise has begun contacting customers who have been affected by the breach.
