WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, ANBT reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice on January 22, 2025, ANBT identified unauthorized access into its network.1 As a result, ANBT launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
On April 28, 2025, ANBT concluded its investigation and confirmed that personal information was accessed without authorization by a third-party between January 21 and 22, 2025.1 As a result, ANBT began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Government issued ID number (e.g. passport, state ID card)
- Financial information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number)
- Medical Information
- Account number or credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to an individual’s financial account
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
Subsequently, ANBT has begun mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, ANBT is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
