SK Americas Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating SK Americas, a subsidiary of the SK Group, regarding its recent data breach. The SK Americas data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, SK Americas reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on April 8, 2025, SK Americas became aware of an IT-related incident .1 As a result, SK Americas launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, SK Americas confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired during the breach. As a result, SK Americas began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport number
  • Postal address and email
  • Financial and banking information (e.g., direct deposit or payment information)
  • Health records
  • Additional business and/or personally identifiable information

On May 7, 2025, SK Americas began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, SK Americas is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
