Serviceaide and Catholic Health Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Serviceaide, Inc. (“Serviceaide”) regarding its recent data breach. The Serviceaide data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Founded in 2016, Serviceaide provides clients with agentic AI solutions to manage workflows, automate interactions, and integrating support across teams.2 Additionally,, Serviceaide offers AISM for AI integrated management, DSM for smoother management solutions, and Luma AI for automation and insight.2 Today, Serviceaide works in a variety of industries such as education, financial services, government, and healthcare, and is the provider of information technology support management services to Catholic Health.3,4 Headquartered in San Jose, California, Serviceaide has locations worldwide and employs over 50 individuals.5

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Serviceaide reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on November 15, 2024, Serviceaide learned that certain information within its Catholic Health Elasticsearch database was made publicly available.1 As a result, Serviceaide launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Serviceaide confirmed that sensitive personal information belonging to Catholic Health patients was publicly available between September 19 and November 5, 2024. As a result, Serviceaide began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical record number
  • Patient account number
  • Medical/health information
  • Health insurance information
  • Prescription/treatment information
  • Clinical information
  • Provider name
  • Provider location
  • Email/username and password

 

 

On May 9, 2025, Serviceaide began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, Serviceaide is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
