Culinary Staffing Service Data Breach Investigation

Founded in 1999, Culinary Staffing Service provides a variety of services to clients, including interviewing candidates, hiring, training, payroll, personnel management, liability and insurance coverage, and round the clock availability.3 Today, Culinary Staffing Service offers these services to businesses in a wide range of industries across California and Nevada, such as food production and manufacturing, restaurants, bars, and lounges, hospitality, and senior living.3 Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Culinary Staffing Service employs over 1,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Culinary Staffing Service reported to the Attorney General of California that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or around March 3, 2025, Culinary Staffing Service became aware that a phishing email had been sent to one of its employees.1 As a result, Culinary Staffing Service launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Culinary Staffing Service confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and taken by an unauthorized third party on March 3, 2025. As a result, Culinary Staffing Service began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number

 

On May 8, 2025, Culinary Staffing Service began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, Culinary Staffing Service is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
