Founded in 2002, Compumedics is involved in the development, manufacture and commercialization of diagnostics technology for the sleep, brain and ultrasonic blood-flow monitoring applications.3 Today, Compumedics owns US based Neuroscan and Germany-based DWL Elektronishe Systeme GmbH.2 In conjunction with these two subsidiaries, Compumedics has a broad international reach, including the Americas; Australia and Asia Pacific; and Europe and the Middle East.2 Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Compumedics employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Compumedics reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, Compumedics recently discovered unauthorized access to its computer network.1 As a result, Compumedics launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Compumedics confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and taken by an unauthorized third party between March 13 and March 25, 2025. As a result, Compumedics began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Bank account number
On May 8, 2025, Compumedics began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Compumedics is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
