Founded in 1989, GeoLogics was created to provide specialized R&D and engineering services to various organizations so they could concentrate in their core business areas.2 Today, GeoLogics participates in aerospace, defense, and intelligence projects with senior engineering, science, and Subject Matter Expert (SME) professionals providing the technical staff of federal agencies and government prime contractors with specialized technical knowledge.2 This includes technical support in the areas of research and development, engineering, communications, software, and systems development.2 Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, GeoLogics has regional offices in Alabama, Maryland, South Carolina, Colorado, Texas, California, and Massachusetts, and employs over 200 individuals.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, GeoLogics reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on October 16, 2024, GeoLogics discovered that it had experienced a network security incident.1 As a result, GeoLogics launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, GeoLogics confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between December 21 and December 23, 2023. As a result, GeoLogics began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On April 8, 2025, GeoLogics completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or state identification number
- Passport number
- Financial account information
On May 5, 2025, GeoLogics began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, GeoLogics is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
