Founded in 1989, Genpro is a 3PL provider specializing in temperature-sensitive multi-pick and drop freight.2 Additionally, Genpro’s managed services include transportation management, risk management, single source efficiencies, and analytics.3 Today, Genpro serves a variety of markets such as produce, dry goods, raw materials, wholesale, retail, food and beverages, and distribution.2 Headquartered in Rutherford, New Jersey, Genpro employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Genpro reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on September 23, 2024, Genpro was alerted to unusual activity within its network.1 As a result, Genpro launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Genpro confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party on September 21, 2024. As a result, Genpro began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On April 15, 2025, Genpro completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Medical condition or treatment information
- Individual insurance policy number
On April 24, 2025, Genpro began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Genpro is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
