WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Allied Telesis announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on May 20, 2024, Allied Telesis became aware of suspicious activity potentially involving its network.1 As a result, Allied Telesis launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Allied Telesis confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between April 30, 2024, and May 20, 2024. As a result, Allied Telesis began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license or state identification number
- Passport number
- Taxpayer identification number
- Tribal identification number
- Student identification number
- United States alien registration number
- International taxpayer identification number
- Employer identification number
- Empolyer assigned identification number
- Financial account information
- Payment card information
- Digital/electronic signature
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
As a result of the data breach, Allied Telesis posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on April 21, 2025, Allied Telesis began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Allied Telesis is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
