WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Home Telecom reported to the Attorney General of South Carolina that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on March 17, 2025, Home Telecom was informed of a third party data security incident involving Home Telecom and other companies.1 As a result, Home Telecom launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Home Telecom confirmed that sensitive personal information belonging to its customers may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Home Telecom began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
On April 14, 2025, Home Telecom began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to South Carolina residents, Home Telecom is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
