WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, UNBH announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed . According to the breach notice, on July 2, 2024, UNBH became aware of suspicious activity within an employee email account .1 As a result, UNBH launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, UNBH confirmed that sensitive personal information in certain employee email accounts may have been accessed and taken by an unauthorized third party between July 2 and July 3, 2024. As a result, UNBH began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify specific individuals affected. On March 10, 2025, UNBH completed this review and determined that customers were impacted.1 While the information taken varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially at risk includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of Birth
- Driver’s License number
- Financial Account information
- Health Insurance information
- Medical information
- Passport number
On or about April 8, 2025, UNBH began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice posted to their website, UNBH is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted.
