WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Harcourts Prime Properties reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on March 20, 2025, Harcourts Prime Properties was notified that a ransom demand had been issue on the Dark Web with sample documents of Agent Information sheets.1 As a result, Harcourts Prime Properties launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Harcourts Prime Properties confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party on March 18, 2025. As a result, Harcourts Prime Properties began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Contact information
As a result of the data breach, Harcourts Prime Properties began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
