Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating SimonMed Imaging (“SimonMed”) regarding its recent data breach. The SimonMed data breach involved sensitive personal information and medical information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.
ABOUT SIMONMED IMAGING:
SimonMed is an outpatient medical imaging provider and physician radiology practice based in Arizona. Today, SimonMed provides a variety of imaging services, including CT scan, MRI, nuclear medicine and PET scan, mammogram, personalized breast cancer detection, ultrasound, bone density scan, X-Ray, and more.2 Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, SimonMed has over 160 locations across 11 states.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, SimonMed announced that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on January 27, 2025, SimonMed was alerted by one of its vendors that they were experiencing a security incident.1 As a result, SimonMed launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, SimonMed confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems belonging to patients may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between January 21 and February 5, 2025. As a result, SimonMed began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Medical information (e.g., provider name, medical record number, patient number, medical condition, diagnosis and/or treatment information, medications)
- Health insurance information
As a result of the data breach, SimonMed posted a notice of the incident on its website. As the investigation is ongoing, SimonMed will update its notification if additional types of impacted information are identified.
