WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Welts, White & Fontaine announced that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or around January 8, 2025, Welts, White & Fontaine learned that an unauthorized actor may have accessed its network and copied files from its file server.1 As a result, Welts, White & Fontaine launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, on January 14, 2025, Welts, White & Fontaine confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Welts, White & Fontaine began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Welts, White & Fontaine. However, according to the breach notice, Welts, White & Fontaine does maintain files that have the potential to contain “sensitive legal information, personal information, and protected health information associated with indidicuals.”1  

As a result of the data breach, Welts, White & Fontaine posted a notice of the incident on its website. Based on the website breach notice, Welts, White & Fontaine is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
