Founded in 1991, Crossroads buys, sells, and consigns name brand and designer clothing, offering secondhand clothing as an alternative to traditional retail.3 Today, Crossroads allows customers to sell their current, on-trend clothing and accessories for cash or trade credit in person, through its app, or by mail.4 Headquartered in Berkeley, California, Crossroads has over 35 retail locations across the United States and employs over 500 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Crossroads reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on February 15, 2025, an unauthorized third-party gained access to Crossroads’ server and subsequently encrypted data stored on its network.1 As a result, Crossroads launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Crossroads confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised during the breach. As a result, Crossroads began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Government issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID card)
On March 25, 2025, Crossroads began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, Crossroads is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
