Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Kinsey’s Archery Products, Inc. (“Kinsey’s”) regarding its recent data breach. The Kinsey’s data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 1,300 individuals.

Kinsey’s is a distributor to the outdoor and archery industry based in Pennsylvania. Carrying more than 31,000 products from more than 400 vendors, Kinsey’s offers an assortment of archery, ammunition, and firearm products to domestic and international retailers.3,4 Founded in 1952, Kinsey’s serves more than 7,000 retailers nationwide.4 Headquartered in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, Kinsey’s has an additional warehouse in Louisville, Kentucky, and employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Kinsey’s reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on January 14, 2025, Kinsey’s experienced a network disruption.1 As a result, Kinsey’s launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Kinsey’s confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised during the breach. As a result, Kinsey’s began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On or around March 4, 2025, Kinsey’s completed this review. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Kinsey’s. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or other government issued ID card numbers (e.g., individual taxpayer ID number, passport number, military ID card number)
- Financial account number or credit or debit card number
- Unique biometric data (e.g., fingerprint, retina or iris image, or other unique biometric representation)
- Genetic information
- Health record or records of a wellness program or similar program of health promotion or disease prevention (e.g., healthcare professional’s medical diagnosis or treatment of the consumer, health insurance policy number)
As a result of the data breach, Kinsey’s began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, Kinsey’s is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
