WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Ray Catena reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or around November 17, 2023, Ray Catena identified suspicious activity on certain computer systems that included the encryption of certain files.1 As a result, Ray Catena launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Ray Catena confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained between November 5 and November 17, 2023. As a result, Ray Catena began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Username and password/PIN/or account login
- Reason for absence
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
On March 6, 2025, Ray Catena began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, Ray Catena is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
