Continental Aerospace Technologies Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Continental Aerospace Technologies, Inc. (“Continental”) regarding its recent data breach. The Continental data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 2,600 individuals.

Continental is an aviation and aerospace engineering company based in Alabama. Founded in 1905, Continental offers a full range of gasoline and Jet-A engines, as well as avionics services such as engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul.2,3 Today, Continental serves OEMs, flight schools, fleet customers, and pilots out of its manufacturing and service centers across the world.2,4 Headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, Continental employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Continental reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, Continental experienced a network disruption that affected its ability to access certain systems.1 As a result, Continental launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Continental confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised on or around February 13, 2024.1 As a result, Continental began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On or about February 18, 2025, Continental completed this review. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Continental. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state identification card number
  • Account number, credit card number or debit card number, if circumstances exist wherein such a number could be used without additional identifying information, access codes or passwords
  • Account passwords or personal identification numbers or other access codes

 

On March 13, 2025, Continental provided initial notice to impacted individuals via email. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Continental is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
