Numotion Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating United Seating and Mobility, LLC which does business as Numotion regarding its recent data breach. The Numotion data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Numotion is a medical equipment manufacturer based in Tennessee. Through its collection of brands, Numotion provides those living with disabilities greater independence.4 Additionally, Numotion works with clinicians and health plans to serve people living with disabilities with prescription-based products including individually configured Complex Rehab Technology (CRT), catheters, and other assistive technologies.4 Headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, Numotion has more than 150 locations nationwide and employs over 1,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Numotion announced that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, Numotion recently learned that an threat actor had accessed certain employee email accounts without authorization.1 As a result, Numotion launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Numotion confirmed that sensitive personal information in certain files in its network belonging to customers may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between September 2, 2024, and November 18, 2024. As a result, Numotion began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Product information
  • Payment and financial account information
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

As a result of the data breach, Numotion posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, Numotion has recently begun sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Numotion is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
