TERREPOWER Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating TERREPOWER, LLC, formerly known as BBB Industries, LLC (“TERREPOWER”) regarding its recent data breach. The TERREPOWER data breach may have involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT TERREPOWER, LLC F/K/A BBB INDUSTRIES, LLC:

TERREPOWER is an auto part manufacturing company based in Alabama. Founded in 1987 as BBB Industries, TERREPOWER began as a small regional remanufacturer of starters and alternators.2 Today, TERREPOWER’s product offerings span both the industrial and automatic sectors, including alternators and starters, steering, braking, hydraulics, turbochargers, fuel systems, solar systems, electronics, battery energy storage, and more.3 Headquartered in Daphne, Alabama, TERREPOWER has locations across the United States and Europe, and employs over 10,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, TERREPOWER reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on December 15, 2024, TERREPOWER became aware of suspicious activity on its computer network.1 As a result, TERREPOWER launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, TERREPOWER confirmed that sensitive personal information in certain files in its network may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between December 12 and December 16, 2024. As a result, TERREPOWER began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by TERREPOWER. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or other government identification number
  • Account number, credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to an individual’s financial account

 

On March 7, 2025, TERREPOWER began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to New Hampshire residents, TERREPOWER is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
