Purecoat Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Purecoat North, LLC and Purecoat International, LLC (collectively, “Purecoat”) regarding its recent data breach. The Purecoat data breach may have involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT PURECOAT INTERNATIONAL, LLC AND PURECOAT NORTH, LLC:

Purecoat International has operated out of the same 40,000 square foot facility in West Palm Beach, Florida for over 25 years.2 Today, Purecoat International applies specialized metal finishes to components utilized worldwide by the aerospace, electronics, transportation and microwave industries.2 Additionally, Purecoat International has a sister metal finishing company in Belmont, Massachusetts called Purecoat North, LLC that offers gold, silver, tri-alloy and copper coatings to maximize conductivity and substrate protection; and a variety of finishes which conforms to high-end military and commercial specifications.2,3

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Purecoat reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on January 13, 2025, Purecoat identified a cyber incident impacting certain of its systems.1 As a result, Purecoat launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Purecoat confirmed that sensitive personal information in certain files in its network may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between November 19, 2024, and January 12, 2025. As a result, Purecoat began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number

 

On March 4, 2025, Purecoat began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Massachusetts residents, Purecoat is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
