Today, The Grove today serves those needing various forms of rehabilitation and care, including physical therapy, speech therapy, diabetic management, pain management, dental services, respite care, and more.2 Specialty programs that The Grove offers include orthopedic and general short-term rehabilitation, long term care, wound care, amputee care, arty therapy, recreation, and urban zen.3 Located in the Valhalla, New York, The Grove is a part of the CareRite Centers network.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, The Grove released a notice to the press stating that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the press release, on or about September 19, 2024, The Grove learned of a data security incident involving a third party vender.1 As a result, The Grove launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, The Grove confirmed that sensitive personal information of current or past patients may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party on or around July 20, 2024. As a result, The Grove began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Medical information
- Address
On January 28, 2024, The Grove began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the press release, The Grove is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted. A link to The Grove’s press release is below.
