Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Estrella Franchising, LLC, which does business as Estrella Insurance (“Estrella”) regarding its recent data breach. The Estrella data breach may have involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 16,000 individuals.

Today, Estrella helps find its clients insurance for auto, home/renters, commercial auto, business/workers compensation, health and life.2 Additionally, Estrella offers insurance from over 30 different companies, including companies such as Progressive and Infinity.2 Headquartered in Coral Gables, Florida, Estrella employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Estrella reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or around January 22, 2025, Estrella detected a ransomware attack that occurred earlier that day.1 As a result, Estrella launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Estrella confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Estrella began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Online account access credentials
On March 3, 2025, Estrella began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Maine residents, Estrella is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
