Goodwill North Central Texas Data Breach Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On February 20, 2025, Goodwill North Central Texas reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. According to the breach notice, on or around November 10, 2024, Goodwill North Central Texas learned of potential unauthorized access to its network.1 As a result, Goodwill North Central Texas launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Goodwill North Central Texas confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between November 4 and November 10, 2024. As a result, Goodwill North Central Texas began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On February 4, 2025, Goodwill North Central Texas completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Government issued ID number
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

On February 19, 2025, Goodwill North Central Texas began mailing notice to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, Goodwill North Central Texas is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
