Mid-State Industrial Maintenance Data Breach Investigation

Mid-State Industrial is a manufacturing company based in Florida. Founded in 1973, Mid-State Industrial provides manufacturing, repairing, designing, disassembling and transporting expertly designed equipment and machinery.2 Between its Fabrication, Machining, General Mechanical, and Industrial Maintenance Departments, Mid-State Industrial offers hammer mills, rotary kilns, log washer systems, welding, plasma cutting, stainless steel fabrication of all alloys, and more.2 With locations in 43 states, Mid-State Industrial is headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, and employs over 1,000 individuals.2

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Mid-State Industrial reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or around January 24, 2025, Mid-State Industrial became aware of suspicious activity within its network.1 As a result, Mid-State Industrial launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Mid-State Industrial confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and copied by an unauthorized third party between January 23 and January 24, 2025. As a result, Mid-State Industrial began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On or about January 29, 2025, Mid-State Industrial completed its review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Government issued identification number
  • Financial account information

 

On February 11, 2025, Mid-State Industrial began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, Mid-State Industrial is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
