Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Canyon State Electric (“CSE”) regarding its recent data breach. The CSE data breach may have involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 1,000 individuals.

CSE is an electrical construction company based in Arizona. Founded in 1978, CSE offers a variety of services, including design and build, virtual design and construction, prefabrication, BDA systems, and system service and maintenance.2 Today, CSE serves numerous industries, including public facilities, schools, residential complexes, commercial/industrial facilities, tenant improvements, hospitals, retail centers, office buildings, hotels, resorts, spas and casinos, and more.3 Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, CSE employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, CSE reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on December 10, 2024, CSE was alerted that an unauthorized actor had accessed CSE’s account on a third-party human resources software system used by CSE.1 As a result, CSE launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, on January 8, 2025, CSE confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems belonging to employees and their dependents may have been viewed and taken by an unauthorized third party between December 4 and December 10, 2024. As a result, CSE began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Benefits related information
On February 7, 2025, CSE began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, CSE is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
