Founded in 1984, Lighthouse provides an array of services, including engineering, design/build, interior and exterior lighting, generator installation, preventative maintenance, surge protection, fire alarm systems, power distribution, and more.3 Headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Lighthouse has three additional locations and employs over 500 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Lighthouse reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or around October 26, 2024, Lighthouse became aware of suspicious activity within its network.1 As a result, Lighthouse launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Lighthouse confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and copied by an unauthorized third party between October 21 and October 26, 2024. As a result, Lighthouse began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On or around December 23, 2024, Lighthouse completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account information
- Health insurance information
On February 4, 2025, Lighthouse began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Lighthouse is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
