WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Menorah Life discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. On December 20, 2024, Menorah Life filed official notice of the data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights. Though much information is still not known about the Menorah Life breach, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ reporting guidelines require entities to report data breaches when they involve protected health information. Therefore, it is likely that the Menorah Life breach included the protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals. As a result of the data breach, Menorah Life may soon begin notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted.
