Founded in 2008, KMB provides a comprehensive systematic approach to engineering, including traditional civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental, structural, solar, and energy engineering services, as well as fielding & construction management services.2 Today, KMB is professionally licensed in 50 states, Europe, and Puerto Rico and actively performs work on a national basis.2 Headquartered in Wall, New Jersey, KMB has five additional locations across the United States and employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, KMB reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or around March 19, 2024, KMB experienced unauthorized access to its network.1 As a result, KMB launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, KMB confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and copied by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, KMB began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On December 30, 2024, KMB completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
On January 28, 2025, KMB began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to Massachusetts residents, is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 24 months of complimentary identity monitoring services.
