Kimball Research Institute.2 Headquartered in New York, New York, NYBC employs over 1,000 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, NYBC announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on January 26, 2025, NYBC and its operating divisions identified suspicious activity affecting its IT systems.1 As a result, NYBC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, NYBC confirmed that the IT incident was the result of a ransomware attack and sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party. As of January 30, 2025, NYBC’s systems have still not been restored and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. On January 29, 2025, NYBC posted a notice of the incident on its website.
