WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Albany Gastroenterology Consultants reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on November 19, 2024, Albany Gastroenterology Consultants became aware of unusual activity that disrupted access to certain of its systems.1 As a result, Albany Gastroenterology Consultants launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Albany Gastroenterology Consultants confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party on or about November 10, 2024. As a result, Albany Gastroenterology Consultants began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On January 21, 2025, Albany Gastroenterology Consultants completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

On January 28, 2025, Albany Gastroenterology Consultants began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
