Founded in 2003, Max Trans transports products such as aluminum, corrugated box, cotton, tires, transformers, office furniture, and other general commodity types.2 Today, Max Trans has 250 trucks in operation and circulates about 600 trailers.2 In 2012, Max Trans formed its subsidiary Max Trans Logistics, a third-party logistics provider that handles all its customers’ needs alongside Max Trans.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Max Trans reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or about December 10, 2024, Max Trans became aware of unauthorized access to its network. 1 As a result, Max Trans launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Max Trans confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed or copied by an unauthorized third party on November 29, 2024. As a result, Max Trans began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Address
- Email address
- Date of birth
On or about January 27, 2025, Max Trans began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Max Trans is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring.
