Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Allegheny Health Network and its subsidiaries AHN Home Medical Equipment LLC and AHN Home Infusion LLC (collectively, “AHN”), regarding its recent data breach. The AHN data breach may have involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

AHN is an integrated health care delivery system based in Pennsylvania. Founded in 2013, AHN offers care in a variety of medical areas, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, women’s health, dental, and more.3 Today, AHN’s health system is comprised of 14 hospitals and more than 200 primary- and specialty-care practices in more than 300 clinical locations and offices.4 Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, AHN employs over 2,600 physicians and 22,000 additional individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, AHN announced that its IT vendor, IntraSystems, LLC, responsible for hosting, managing, and securing certain computer systems that support AHN’s subsidiary Home Medical Equipment and Home Infusion companies, had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired.1 According to the breach notice, on November 19, 2024, AHN became aware of the incident.1 As a result, AHN launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, AHN confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party on October 11, 2024. As a result, AHN began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Financial account number
- Medical information (e.g., diagnosis and treatment information, provider information, procedures, dates of service, prescription information, medical device serial numbers)
- Health insurance identification number and other health insurance information
As a result of the data breach, AHN posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, AHN and IntraSystems recently began mailing breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, AHN is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
