Promontory is a private, high-end mountain club community based in Utah.2 Founded in 2001, Promontory spans 72,000 acres and caters to a multi-generational membership with various real estate options and amenities.2 Today, Promontory’s amenities include golf, clubhouses, ski lodges, a spa, equestrian, fitness, tennis and pickleball, trail systems, and more.3 Headquartered in Park City, Utah, Promontory employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Promontory reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on November 11, 2024, Promontory became aware of suspicious activity on its computer network.1 As a result, Promontory launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Promontory confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between November 11 and November 13, 2024. As a result, Promontory began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social security number
- Date of birth
- Contact information
On January 14, 2025, Promontory began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Promontory is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
