VFP Pharmacy Group is a specialty pharmacy company based in Massachusetts. VFP Pharmacy Group was created via the merger of four specialty pharmacies, Village Fertility Pharmacy in Boston, Village Fertility Pharmacy in Chicago, Integrity Rx Specialty Pharmacy in Phoenix, and Integrity Rx Specialty Pharmacy in Los Angeles.2 Today, VFP Pharmacy Group specializes in providing medications and care for patients undergoing fertility treatments.3 Headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, VFP Pharmacy Group has three additional locations in Chicago, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, and employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, VFP Pharmacy Group reported to the Attorney General of Montana that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, during internal system monitoring VFP Pharmacy Group recently identified potential unauthorized access to a company email account.1 As a result, VFP Pharmacy Group launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, VFP Pharmacy Group confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between July 19, 2024, and August 1, 2024. As a result, VFP Pharmacy Group began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Medical history
- Condition, treatment, and/or diagnosis
- Prescription information
On November 6, 2024, VFP Pharmacy Group began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Montana residents, VFP Pharmacy Group is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
