Teton Orthopaedics Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Teton Orthopaedics (“Teton”) regarding its recent data breach. The Teton data breach may have involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT TETON ORTHOPAEDICS:

Teton is a healthcare practice based in Wyoming. Today, Teton specializes in complex musculoskeletal injuries involving the foot and ankle, hand and wrist, hips, knees, shoulders, spine, back, and neck. Additionally, Teton offers a wide-ranging set of on-site services to help support a comprehensive examination, including digital x-rays, extremity MRI, injections, bracing, and more.2 Headquartered in Jackson, Wyoming, Teton has an additional location in Pinedale, Wyoming.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Teton announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or about March 25, 2024, Teton experienced a ransomware incident. As a result, Teton launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Teton confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between January 16, 2024, and March 25, 2024. As a result, Teton began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license or government identification numbers
  • Passport number
  • Financial account information
  • Payment card information
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

As a result of the data breach, Teton posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on December 13, 2024, Teton began mailing individual breach notification letters affected individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Teton is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
