Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Senior Citizens, Inc. (“SCI”) regarding its recent data breach. The SCI data breach may have involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

SCI is a nonprofit senior care organization based in Georgia. Founded in 1959, SCI provides a variety of services to older individuals, including aging life care, adult day health, home-delivered meals, in-home care, and more.2 Additionally, SCI offers care at its Learning Center, Adult Day Health Centers, and Neighborhood Centers, which provide various health, community, and social programs.2 Headquartered in Savannah, Georgia, SCI employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, SCI reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on March 11, 2024, SCI became aware of suspicious activity within its network environment. As a result, SCI launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, SCI confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party during the breach of its network. As a result, SCI began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On November 26, 2024, SCI completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Medical record
On December 31, 2024, SCI began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Massachusetts residents, SCI is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 12 months of complimentary identity monitoring services.
