WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Central Valley Meat reported to the Attorney General of California that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on May 23, 2024, Central Valley Meat identified suspicious activity on its computer systems that impacted operations.1 As a result, Central Valley Meat launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Central Valley Meat confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Central Valley Meat began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On December 30, 2024, Central Valley Meat began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the California residents, Central Valley Meat is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 12 months complimentary identity monitoring services.
