PHHI Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Premier Healthcare Holdings, Inc., which does business as PHHI, regarding its recent data breach. The PHHI data breach may have involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 5,500 individuals.

ABOUT PREMIER HEALTHCARE HOLDINGS, INC. D/B/A PHHI:

PHHI is a healthcare staffing and recruitment company based in Georgia. Today, PHHI specializes in connecting healthcare professionals to healthcare facilities and employers. PHHI’s measurable solutions include travel nurses, local clinicians, dialysis and specialty, international, rapid response, labor disruption, bridge staffing, and workforce solutions.3 Headquartered in Cumming, Georgia, PHHI employs over 5,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, PHHI reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or around July 19, 2024, PHHI identified unusual activity within its email tenant.1 As a result, PHHI launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, on November 22, 2024, PHHI confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party on June 10, 2024. As a result, PHHI began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by PHHI. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state identification number
  • Account number, credit or debit card number, if circumstances exist wherein such a number could be used without additional identifying information, access codes or passwords
  • Account passwords or personal identification numbers or other access codes

 

On December 20, 2024, PHHI began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Maine residents, PHHI is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and complimentary identity monitoring services.
