P&M Reis Trucking Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating P&M Reis Trucking (“Reis Trucking”) regarding its recent data breach. The Reis Trucking data breach may have involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT P&M REIS TRUCKING:

Reis Trucking is a family-owned waste disposal company based in Massachusetts. Founded in 1955, Reis Trucking offers a broad range of services to residential customers, hospitality and retail businesses, and the construction industry.2 Today, these services include rubbish collection and recycling, miscellaneous debris removal, roll-off containers for large or prolonged debris containment and disposal, excavation including land clearing, digging for foundations, installation of septic systems, driveway/road construction and repair, ready mix concrete and concrete pumping, and more.2 Reis Trucking is headquartered in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Reis Trucking reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or about July 10, 2024, Reis Trucking learned that an unauthorized third-party had gained limited access to some of its IT systems.1 As a result, Reis Trucking launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Reis Trucking confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Reis Trucking began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Financial information

As a result of the data breach, Reis Trucking began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Massachusetts residents, Reis Trucking is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 24 months of complimentary identity monitoring services. A link to the form breach notification letter that Reis Trucking filed with the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is below.
