WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Reis Trucking reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or about July 10, 2024, Reis Trucking learned that an unauthorized third-party had gained limited access to some of its IT systems.1 As a result, Reis Trucking launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Reis Trucking confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Reis Trucking began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Financial information
As a result of the data breach, Reis Trucking began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Massachusetts residents, Reis Trucking is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 24 months of complimentary identity monitoring services.
