WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, KMHS announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on October 17, 2024, KMHS detected suspicious activity within its business network. As a result, KMHS launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, KMHS confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party on September 17, 2024, and between October 8 and October 19, 2024. As a result, KMHS began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Driver’s license or state identification number
- Financial information
- Medical information (e.g., diagnosis, condition, treatment information, medications, claims information)
Recently, KMHS posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, KMHS plans to mail individual breach notification letters affected individuals.
