DecoPac Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating DecoPac, Inc. regarding its recent data breach. The DecoPac data breach may have involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT DECOPAC, INC.:

DecoPac is a cake decoration company based in Minnesota. In 1982, DecoPac was formed as an internal unit supplying cake decorations to McGlynn Bakery stores.2 Since 1987 DecoPac has developed relationships with licensors giving it the ability to market cake decorating products featuring popular characters and brands from Disney, Nickelodeon™,Warner Bros., Mattel®, Hasbro®, DreamWorks®, MARVEL®, Lucasfilm® and team logos from the NHL®, NBA, NFL, MLB® and others.2 Today, DecoPac offers an array of cake decoration products and services such as candles, edible décor, licensed characters, PhotoCake®, seasonal and holiday cakes, cakes for special occasions, wedding cakes, and cake decorating supplies and equipment.3 DecoPac is headquartered in Anoka, Minnesota.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, DecoPac reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. After becoming aware of the incident, DecoPac launched an investigation to determine the nature of the security breach. In the form breach notice, DecoPac does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number

 

On December 6, 2024, DecoPac began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Massachusetts residents, DecoPac is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 24 months complimentary identity monitoring services.
