Today, one location that Aperion Care manages is Dolton Nursing & Rehab LLC, which does business as Aperion Care Dolton.3 This location in Dolton, Illinois, offers various therapies, rehab services, assisted living, and community reintegration for guests as well as partners with various hospice care providers to help accommodate patients. 4,5
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Aperion Care Dolton discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. On November 18, 2024, Dolton Nursing & Rehab LLC filed official notice of the data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights. Though much information is still not known about the Aperion Care Dolton breach, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ reporting guidelines require entities to report data breaches when they involve protected health information. Therefore, it is likely that the Aperion Care Dolton breach included the protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals. As a result of the data breach, Aperion Care Dolton may soon begin notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted.
