Dome Construction Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Dome Construction Corporation (“Dome”) regarding its recent data breach. ABOUT DOME CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION:

Dome is a construction contractor based in California. Founded in 1969, Dome provides a variety of construction services, including preconstruction, general construction, commissioning and turnover, and modernization. Additionally, Dome specializes in a range of industries such as education, healthcare, interiors, life sciences, retail and hospitality, and technology. Headquartered in South San Fransico, California, Dome has five additional locations in California and employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Dome reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, Dome recently became aware of suspicious activity within its network that was affecting certain IT systems.1 As a result, Dome launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Dome discovered that sensitive personal information belonging to employees in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between October 19 and October 20, 2024. As a result, Dome began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Direct deposit information
  • Driver’s license, state identification card, or other government issued identification number
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

On November 22, 2024, Dome began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, Dome is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of credit and identity monitoring services.
