AdventHealth Data Breach Investigation

AdventHealth is a healthcare network based in Florida. Founded in 1973, AdventHealth provides individualized, wholistic care across physician practices, hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies and hospice centers.2 Today, the medical services offered by AdventHealth include primary care, urgent care, surgical care, allergy care, behavioral health, cancer care, dermatology services, digestive care, heart and vascular care, hospice services, imaging services, lab services, orthopedic care, women’s healthcare, and more.3 Headquartered in Altamonte Springs, Florida, AdventHealth has over 50 hospital campuses and hundreds of care sites throughout nine states and employs over 92,000 individuals.2

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 18, 2024, AdventHealth reported to the Attorney General of Texas that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. As of November 18, 2024, details of the breach have not been made publicly available by AdventHealth. While not much is known about the breach, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

As a result of the data breach, AdventHealth has provided notice to impacted individuals. A link to the breach report filed by the Attorney General of Texas is below.
